Chiropractic

Chiropractic is the art and science of spinal health. In the spine, we have bones, called vertebrae.

Virtually everyone, including children, have vertebrae that are out of alignment. When a bone in the spine misaligns it also fixates meaning it loses its range of motion. This can cause pinching of the nerves, inflammation, swelling, decreased range of motion and pain. The best method of correction is a chiropractic adjustment to re-establish proper alignment and motion of the vertebrae.

A big misconception about chiropractic is it is rough and can hurt. Chiropractic has a great variety of techniques ranging from non-force techniques to manual thrust techniques. Therefore, it can be used on the most delicate patients including babies, older patients, and patients with osteoporosis safely.

It can also be used to align stronger patients with a manual thrust technique. It feels absolutely great to get your spine in proper alignment and motion. The benefit to your health is amazing.

When your spine is in proper alignment your body will function at a much greater level of health. You will feel stronger, younger, more flexible, and have greatly improved vitality. Taking care of your spine is a huge step toward optimal health. If you are in pain right now, chiropractic can be the natural answer to your problem.

Children and Chiropractic

Chiropractic Care For My Child? Why? Her Back Doesn’t Bother Her!

How often my patients say they appreciate the importance of having check-ups for their child’s teeth, hearing, eyes, ears, nose and throat. However, when it comes to a spinal checkup, most parents don’t realize it is also a necessary aspect of a child’s preventative health care.

A Spinal Check-Up for Your Child could be one of the Most Important Check-ups in His or Her Life.

The spine is the lifeline of the body. Inside the spinal column is the spinal cord, a bundle containing billions of nerve fibers that will travel to every part of your child’s body. The nerves send messages and energy to and from the brain that regulate your child’s health. If there is any nerve blockage along the spinal cord or any nerve damage, then a state of dis-ease will develop. Dis-ease causes a generalized weakening of your child’s body, lowered resistance to disease and is a major contributor of body malfunction and sickness.

I modify my chiropractic adjusting technique to fit a child’s size, weight and unique spinal problem. The force needed to adjust an infant and child is so little that often when infants are adjusted while sleeping they don’t even wake up. Parents often report to me that their children seem healthier than other kids their age.

How Can a Child’s Spine Lose Alignment?

Spinal nerve damage, also known as vertebral subluxations, can have many causes. Some injuries to the spine are caused during the birth process by obstetrical procedures. For example, forceps are capable of causing damage to the newborn’s spine, especially when they are used to pull or twist the infant’s head and neck. The resulting irritation of the nervous system can be the cause of many newborn health complaints. colic, unexplained crying, poor appetite, breathing problems, ear infections and allergic reactions.

Childhood

Childhood is a very physical time for all of us. The falls, the accidents, the jumping and the running are all part of childhood. All of this can cause spinal misalignments, which may result in nerve dysfunction. It is wise for all patients to have their children’s spine checked regularly.
